T mobile network is a subsidiary of T mobile International AG and is a cellular telecommunication provider. It was formed from two different American company named Powertel and Voice stream. In the year 2002 the company’s name changed and was called T-mobile. T-mobile is presently the fourth largest mobile network in the US. Till the end of the year 2009 the total number of customers was 3.4 million. Annual revenue of T-mobile in the year 2008 was 21.9 billion. T-mobile network has started some new features in the mobile network industry. It is the first network that launched ringback tones service at the national level. Moreover it is the first mobile service provider which launched G1 and started using and promoting Android mobile operating system from Google.
Till 2007 T-mobile network had won 11 J. D. Power awards in the field of call quality, customer care and customer satisfaction. It has completely dominated the wireless industry in the area of customer satisfaction and customer care. It won 5 awards at a stretch for providing best customer satisfaction. T-mobile has made roaming arrangements with other regional carriers such as Dobson, Centennial Wireless, Unicel and national carrier AT & Mobility and also with Alltel GSM network though it has the smallest native network of all the national American carriers. These carriers provide service with GSM 850 MHz facility and a dual band phone is necessary to use both the affiliate and native networks.
With T-mobile all the customers have the international roaming facility; it has to be activated first through customer service. Once facilitated customer don’t have to pay monthly fee to maintain international roaming coverage. T-mobile hot spot is a Wi-Fi based internet access point. It is known as hotspot. It provides high speed wireless internet access to electronic devices and computers within a distance of 90 meter. The T-mobile hot spot service is operating a nationwide collection of approximately 8500 access points. These points have been installed in places like Starbucks, coffeehouses, books and music stores and borders.
T-mobile network service is an unlicensed mobile access service. It enables a wireless handset to receive and make calls through internet connected Wi-Fi network and not via cellular network. It also offers a landline replacement service. It is called T-mobile @home. This service is same like that of other companies like Comcast digital voice, Verizon Voice wing and Vonage. The list of features attached with T-Mobile network includes basic voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, call waiting and conference calling.
